Fondest Memory of PJW Restaurant Group
“It was January 2005 after I was retired for three months when executive chairman/founder Bob Platzer asked me to help the company after his CFO left. I thought I would do it for six months. Fast forward to present day, our sales will have quadrupled by the end of the year, stores almost tripled and the profit graph looks like a hockey stick. It has been a great ride and the journey is just beginning.”
Prior to his current post, he joined a growing public company as a division controller and after only one year rose to become CFO, then shortly added the titles of EVP Finance and board member. Before that, he was a corporate controller and board secretary of a publicly held company, responsible for all internal and external financial reporting and tax compliance while participating in M&A activities. Bill also served six years as a reservist with the U.S. Army Security Agency.
He started his career as an intern while attending Drexel University with the international accounting firm now branded as Deloitte & Touche. He continued with the firm as a CPA in both the audit and tax departments after graduating from Drexel, where he was inducted into the business honorary society.
Bill has received a number of accolades throughout the years and was recently named one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2018 CFOs of the Year. A Medford, New Jersey resident, Bill enjoys overseas travel with his wife, follows politics, attends his grandchildren’s events and frequently hosts his family at his summer home in Ocean City, New Jersey.
